The picture to the left was taken in 1996 with friend-of-the-family Chuck, a Great Pyrenees of superior quality. Chuck weighed more than I did at the time. He and his sister Kate have since gone to doggie heaven, where we assume they have found another family as loving as their one here.

I would not consider this site properly a blog. Any self-respecting web page should be a public relations effort. To avoid having to invent write extensively in an autobiographic manner, I have merely pointed the viewer to those things and areas which I find most interesting. You aren't going to get a “tell all” here, but enjoy it anyway.

International Folk Dance Association of University CityIncorporated in 1964, the IFDA has been serving the greater St. Louis area for over 40 years as a non-profit organization dedicated to the teaching and enjoyment of folk dances and to the sharing of knowledge and appreciation of folk cultures from around the world. The IFDA and its activities are open to anyone interested in international folk dancing or folklore.
I started dancing with IFDA as a Junior in High School [alright, Parkway Central, for the St. Louis audience. But “Central” is really a misnomer, as there was only the one Parkway High School at that time.] While I haven't been dancing very regularly lately, my many IFDA years were a godsend.

VolunteerMatch As the largest online network of participating nonprofits, VolunteerMatch attracts thousands of volunteers every day. Check out the Citizens Commission on Human Rights page on VolunteerMatch, and volunteer to help restore human rights to the field of mental health in St. Louis and the Midwest. We have projects for all ages and experience, and we provide training for those who make a more significant commitment.
Of course, donations to CCHR St. Louis are always welcome.

JanosikThe JANOSIK DANCERS [ya-'no-shik] are an educational, recreational, and cultural organization in Philadelphia primarily interested in learning and performing Polish folk dances. The purpose of this troupe is to help spread Polish culture as a means of promoting cultural understanding among various ethnic groups.
I had the privilege of dancing with Janosik for five years around 1980. I never learned to speak Polish, although I tried with a set of “learn Polish” tapes a couple of times. I learned French in high school with no trouble, but I'm telling you, Polish was a lot harder. There's undoubtedly Polish in the ancestry - the language, music and dance have always fascinated me; and the sense of community that Poles have is to be envied.

An Interview with Dr. Hulda ClarkThis fascinating interview explores Dr. Clark's books, The Cure For All Cancers and The Cure For HIV And AIDS. Personally, I think that this material is so important that I'm willing to endorse it as something you really ought to know about. It really isn't proper, or even necessarily true, to claim that all cancers and HIV/AIDS can be cured knowing and applying this information, but anything that significantly helps deal with these diseases should certainly be investigated.

The many significances of the Latin motto "Post Fata Resurgo" After fate, resurrection.
I return to life after misfortune.
I arise after death.
Rebuilding after destruction.
Phoenix rising.

I just thought this was a cool motto from an ancient coat of arms, and that it should be broadly known.

Notain Tzedakah V'Chessed
Those who perform acts of charity and kindness
The acronym "Netzach" is formed from the initial letters of the three Hebrew words Notain, Tzedakah, and Chessed (Who Gives, Charity, Kindness). It also happens to be the Hebrew word for “victory”. The root word for “Notain” (the Hebrew letters nun, tav, nun) is the same forwards as backwards, which symbolizes that those who give, also receive. We could all take a lesson here.

Youth for Human Rights International Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) is an independent non-profit corporation headquartered in Los Angeles. It was founded in 2001 by Mary Shuttleworth, an educator with 30 years experience, in coordination with the Human Rights Department of the Church of Scientology International. YHRI's purpose is to educate young people in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights so they become valuable advocates for tolerance and peace. Born out of the atrocities and enormous loss of life during World War II, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was created by the United Nations to provide a common understanding of what everyone"s rights are. It forms the basis for a world built on freedom, justice and peace. Nearly everyone gives lip service to Human Rights; now let's make Human Rights a fact, not an idealistic dream.
